Switchboard repairs & upgrades
The switchboard is the safety heart of your home. If it's tripping, buzzing, scorched or still running ceramic fuses, get it looked at now — not after something goes wrong.
Breakers or RCDs that trip regularly, or won't stay reset at all.
Hot smells, discoloured plastic or scorch marks around the board.
Audible noise from inside the board means loose or arcing connections.
Rewirable fuse wire boards are decades past their safe service life.
Without RCDs your circuits have no modern shock protection.
A full board blocks heat pumps, EV chargers and kitchen upgrades.
An old ceramic fuse board only protects the wiring in your walls from overload. It does nothing to protect the people in the house.
Small repairs — a failed breaker, a loose connection, a single RCBO replacement — are usually a straightforward fixed-price visit. Full switchboard upgrades are priced on circuit count, board size, mains condition and access. Every quote is fixed before work begins, and we'll always tell you honestly if a repair will do the job instead of an upgrade.
Ceramic rewirable fuses, no RCDs, frequent tripping, a burning smell, buzzing, scorch marks or a board that's simply full with no space for new circuits all point to an upgrade.
A residual current device cuts power within milliseconds when it detects current leaking to earth — the difference between a shock and a fatal electrocution. Old fuse boards have no RCD protection at all.
Most residential switchboard upgrades are completed in a single day, with power off for only part of that time. Larger or multi-phase boards may run into a second day.
Pricing depends on circuit count, board size and whether the mains need replacing. We inspect, then quote a fixed price before any work begins — no surprises on the invoice.
